深圳市平面设计协会（SGDA）成立于1995年，是国内首个非营利性的平面设计专业组织。协会致力于展示优秀的设计成果，倡导和弘扬专业创作与探索的学术精神，推动平面设计在社会中的认知与发展，并积极促进与国际专业机构的学术交流。协会尊重每一位会员，同时为会员提供分享荣誉的平台，努力成为观念开放、思想前瞻的学术团体与专业实践者。
1992年，深圳市平面设计协会的创立者就发起了中国第一个平面设计专业大展“平面设计在中国展”，在国内外产生了广泛的影响，成为平面设计在中国兴起的标志性展览，之后深圳的平面设计事业蓬勃发展，专业的设计师队伍迅速壮大，于1995年正式成立深圳市平面设计协会。
深圳市平面设计协会成立之后，成功举办了GDC平面设计在中国 96、03、05、07、09、11、13、15、17、19、21、23展。从2005年开始确立为双年竞赛展览项目，期间还组织了各类展览和学术交流活动。如沟通海报展、in china邀请展、法国当代设计展，X展以及改革开放三十年创作展、GDC国际国内巡回展等一系列高水平的展览，与此同时协会每年还组织出版画册，年鉴和刊物。使平面设计得到了很好的推广和社会认知。在深圳被授予联合国设计之都之际，平面设计更成为深圳设计的行业代表得到了广泛赞赏，深圳市平面设计协会先后与美国、德国、法国、英国、日本、意大利、丹麦、韩国等国家进行了交流，并在多个国家举办展览，让中国的设计走向了世界。
深圳市平面设计协会现已逾有三百多位会员。协会的会员多次获得过世界各地设计赛事和国际展览的奖项，取得了享誉国际的设计艺术成就。同时，深圳设计师的设计服务遍及全国的大型企业集团和文化机构，为中国特别是深圳的经济建设与企业发展作出重大贡献，产生了巨大的经济与社会价值。在新的历史时期， 深圳市平面设计协会将继往开来，秉承协会的优秀传统和专业精神，坚持专业的品质追求和学术精神，积极推动中国平面设计的发展。
Shenzhen Graphic Design Association (SGDA), established in 1995, is China’s first non-profit professional graphic design organization. Dedicated to showcasing outstanding design achievements, the association promotes and upholds the academic spirit of professional creation and exploration. It strives to increase public awareness and development of graphic design while actively fostering academic exchanges with international professional institutions. Respecting every member, the association also provides a platform for them to share honors and endeavors to become an open-minded, forward-thinking academic community and professional practitioner.
Since 1992, the founder of SGDA has initiated the first professional exhibition on graphic design, “Gra- phic Design in China (hereinafter referred to as GDC)”, having great influence at home and abroad and becoming the symbol one in China. After that, the graphic design industry in Shenzhen has been flouri- shing, with more and more professional designers, so SGDA was established formally in 1995.
SGDA has held the GDC 96, 03, 05, 07, 09, 11, 13,15,17,19 ,21and 23 successfully after its establish- ment. It started to set a 2-year competition exhibition from 2005 and also organized various exhibitions and academic exchanges like Communication Poster Exhibition, GDC Invitational Exhibition, Modern Design Exhibition in France, X Exhibition, Creation Exhibition over 30-year Reform & Opening-up and other top-grade ones. In addition, it publishes albums of painting, almanacs and periodicals annually to make graphic design popular and accepted by the society. On the occasion that Shenzhen was granted “City of Design” by UN, graphic design won a wide reputation as the representative design industry in Shenzhen. SGDA has communicated with USA, Germany, France, UK, Japan, Italy, Denmark and South Korea successively, and held exhibitions in many countries to make Chinese design go globally
