This five-story building serves as a creative hub for rehearsal, performance, and administration under the Jiangsu Performing Arts Group. It embraces diverse forms of art — traditional Chinese opera, dance, instrumental music, vocal performance, and drama.
Drawing inspiration from the essence of these art forms, five key concepts were distilled: Rhythm (律), Vitality (气), Vision (视), Voice (声), and Spirit (神) — representing movement, breath, perception, resonance, and soul.
Each concept unfolds into an auxiliary graphic motif, while five colors are derived from the “upper and lower five tones” of traditional Chinese costumes. Each color signifies one floor, guiding orientation through chromatic rhythm and symbolic association.
Within a space of black, white, and gray, color becomes the pulse of life — channeling movement, harmony, and emotional warmth. The result is a wayfinding system that is not merely functional, but poetic — an interpretation of Eastern order, balance, and artistic vitality in contemporary spatial design.
